Kim to defend PGA Tour title in Las Vegas

Korean men’s golf’s “young gun” Kim Joo-hyung will make his long-awaited title defense this week in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Kim, who already has two wins on the PGA Tour, had to withdraw from his title defense in August due to an ankle injury.

Kim, who won the Wyndham Championship in 2022, was scheduled to defend his title this year but injured his ankle while competing in the British Open.

After having to withdraw from the first defense of his title, Kim now has a second chance.

The Shriners Children’s Open, which will be held at TPC Summerlin in Las Vegas starting on Sept. 12, is part of the Fall Series with a total prize pool of $8.4 million ($1.15 million – approximately KRW 2.04 billion).

Kim is a strong favorite to win this year’s event, as he has shown that he is still at the top of his game after an ankle injury, making it all the way to the Tour Championship, the final PGA Tour playoff event, where he finished tied for 20th.

One of the biggest stories of the tournament will be the participation of Lexi Thompson (USA), a star player on the Women’s Professional Golf (PGA) Tour.스포츠토토

Playing as an invitee, Thompson will compete in a shotgun start against 130 male players. Thompson will be the seventh player to compete on the PGA Tour.

Kim Siu Kim, who won a gold medal in the golf team event at the Hangzhou Asian Games, has also been named to the field in Las Vegas.

Meanwhile, this week’s LIV Golf Tour will take place in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, from Sept. 13-15.

LIV will then host the Team Championship at Trump National Doral Golf Course in the U.S. from Oct. 20-22, with the top 12 players selected based on their performance leading up to the event.
