Teams seize day one to climb back into the standings. Blue One Resort, Welcome Savings Bank, and Eswai, all teams in need of a first-round rebound, started the second round with wins.
On the first day of the second round of the Welcome Savings Bank PBA Team League 2023-24 at the Kintex PBA Stadium in Goyang, South Korea, Eswai defeated Crown HaeTae in straight sets 4-1 (11-6, 9-6, 9-15, 9-8, 11-10).
In the first set, the pair of Sanchez-Deukhee Hwang got off to a flying start, breaking Kim Jae-geun-Kim Tae-kwan 11-6 in seven games. Han Ji-Eun and Lee Woo-Kyung followed suit with a five-point run to pull back to 9-6 against Baek Min-Jung-Sook.
In the third set, Sanchez dropped a set to Oh Tae-joon 15-9 in six games, but Lee Young-hoon-Han Seul-ki rallied to take a 9-8 lead over Kim Jae-geun-Baek Min-ju. Park In-soo, who was brought in as a last-minute replacement for Zheng Aing Bu, outlasted Martinez, the ace of the Chinjung team, in seven games, 11-10, to take the three points.
Earlier in the day, Blue One Resort continued its climb up the standings with a 4-2 (11-2, 9-6, 15-7, 9-4, 7-11, 9-5) win over Hanakad. The match was dominated by the women.
After Safata and Kang Min-koo defeated Choklu and Shin Jung-joo 11-2 in straight sets, Kim Min-young teamed up with Seo Han-sol to defeat Kim Jin-ah and Sakai in 10 games in the next women’s doubles. Safata then pushed Hanakkad to the brink with a 15-7 third-set win over Murat Nasi Choklu.
Hanakad seemed to bounce back in the mixed doubles, with Nguyen Quoc Nguyen pairing up with Kim Ga-young to take Kang Min-koo-Srong to a 9-4 fifth set and then Chan Chapak to a straight sets victory.
However, in the final game, Long Piavi clinched the win for her team with a 9-5 victory over Kim Ga-young in a 13-game tiebreaker.
Elsewhere, Welcome Savings Bank earned a hard-fought 4-3 victory over Huon’s, while NH Card also won 4-3 in a full-set thriller against Hiwon Resort. SK Rent-a-Car took the day off.안전놀이터
Meanwhile, on the second day of the second round on Sunday, SK Rent-a-Car-Huonce will face off at 12:30 p.m., followed by Blue One Resort-Crown Haetae at 3:30 p.m., Welcome Savings Bank-NH Nonghyup Card at 6:30 p.m., and Eswai-High One Resort at 9:30 p.m. Both teams have a day off. Hana Card will take a day off.
