Bench-clearing broke out in Major League Baseball. A fistfight broke out.
The Chicago White Sox won 7-4 against the Cleveland Cavaliers in the 2023 Major League Baseball World Series at Progressive Field in Cleveland, Ohio, on June 6.
However, the White Sox’ victory was more talked about than the game itself. The bench clearing. In the bottom of the sixth inning, with Cleveland trailing 5-0, Jose Ramirez singled with runners on first and second. Ramirez sprinted to second base and slid in on a head-first slide.
Shortstop Tim Anderson was covering second base with his legs spread, and Ramirez slid between them. Anderson tried to make the tag, but the outcome was safe. However, the two players then exchanged words and Anderson removed his glove and got into a boxing stance. Fists were then exchanged and all the players and coaches in the dugout headed onto the field.
The confrontation escalated and led to an argument between the coaching staff. According to MLB.com, the official website of Major League Baseball, “The two teams argued for 14 minutes. Six players were ejected afterward.”
Ramirez and Anderson were ejected, along with White Sox manager Pedro Griffol, Cleveland manager Terry Francona, Cleveland third base coach Mike Sabore, and Cleveland pitcher Emmanuel Clouseau.
“I could tell these two teams didn’t like each other,” said Noah Syndergaard, who was recently traded to Cleveland from the Los Angeles Dodgers, according to MLB.com, “and I don’t think it’s going to be resolved anytime soon.”
“I don’t think (Anderson) respects the game,” Ramirez said. I told him during the game, ‘Don’t do this. It’s disrespectful. Don’t tag players like that,’ and (Anderson’s) response was, ‘I want to fight,’ and if he wanted to fight, I had to defend myself.”먹튀검증
White Sox infielder Elvis Andrews defended Anderson. “We love him and will always support him. He plays with passion and gives 100 percent on the field,” he said.
