Korea will face Australia, Thailand and Indonesia in the Asia Cup Qualifiers.
The International Basketball Federation (FIBA) held the draw for the 2025 FIBA Asia Cup Qualifiers at the Ezdan Palace Hotel in Doha, Qatar on Tuesday. Former Iran and Philippines national team players Hamed Haddadi and Gabe Norwood were in attendance.
A total of 24 teams will participate in the Asia Cup Qualifiers. The 24 teams will be divided into six groups of four teams, playing home and away. The first and second place finishers in each group will advance to the Asia Cup, with the third place finisher joining the four teams in the final tournament. The Asia Cup will feature 16 teams competing in four groups.
South Korea is in Group A with Australia, Thailand, and Indonesia. The toughest opponent will be Australia. The Aussies are a basketball powerhouse, ranked No. 3 in the FIBA rankings. While they don’t have NBA legends like Josh Giddy (Oklahoma City) and Mathis Taibul (Philadelphia), they do have a strong NBL roster. Matthew Dellavedova, Sam Prowling, and Nick Kay will be the mainstays.아톰카지노
Thailand and Indonesia are rated a notch below South Korea. Therefore, South Korea is expected to fight with Australia for the top spot in the group. Barring any upsets, it shouldn’t be too difficult to qualify for the Asia Cup.
South Korea has bad memories of last year’s Asia Cup, where they were eliminated by New Zealand in the quarterfinals. Therefore, they will be looking to redeem themselves in the upcoming Asia Cup.
