Defending World Championships women’s singles champion Ahn Se-young defeated world No. 13 Mia Blickfeldt (DEN) 2-0 (21-16 21-12) in the round of 32 of the women’s singles competition in Changzhou, China on Friday (July 5).

Ahn improved her head-to-head record against Blickfeld to 4-4.

Ahn’s opponent in the round of 16 is world No. 11 Wang Zhiyi (China). Ahn leads their head-to-head record 7-6-1. Ahn has won all three of their meetings this year.

Ahn Se-young will try to win her fourth consecutive tournament after winning the Korea Open and Japan Open in July and the World Championships last month.

World mixed doubles champions Seo Seung-jae and Chae Yu-jung also reached the round of 16.

World No. 5 Seo Seung-jae and Chae Yu-jung defeated World No. 9 Matthias Christiansen and Alexandra Boye (DEN) 2-0 (21-14 24-22) in the round of 32 on Sunday to advance to the Round of 16.
