Right-handed pitcher Emerson Hancock (24-Seattle Mariners) has been placed on the disabled list (IL).
The Mariners transferred Hancock to the 15-day disabled list on Wednesday. Hancock started the previous day against the Houston Astros and was removed after two innings. He threw 31 pitches. Initially reported as a oblique strain, the reason for the IL stint was listed as a shoulder issue.메이저놀이터
Local media outlets reported that Hancock’s departure derailed Seattle’s plans to run a six-man starting rotation. The Seahawks have been without the services of Brian Woo (1-3, 4.75 ERA) and Marco Gonzalez (4-1, 5.22 ERA) due to injury. Woo’s return is imminent, but Hancock’s departure means the team won’t have much of a “comeback effect.
Hancock was drafted sixth overall in the first round of the 2020 First-Year Player Draft. A big-time prospect with a $5.7 million contract, he went 11-5 with a 4.32 ERA in Double-A this season. He made his big league debut against the San Diego Padres on Oct. 10 and pitched in three games for Houston. He is winless with a 4.50 ERA (6 runs on 13 hits in 12 innings).
He was expected to get more of a chance as a starter, but a sudden injury forced him to sit out. To coincide with Hancock’s IL stint, Seattle recalled infield utility player Sam Haggerty from Triple-A. Instead, they recalled shortstop JP Crawford from the IL and called up right-handed pitcher Darren McCone to fill the roster spot.
